I Was Told It Would Get Easier by Abbi Waxman
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I read this because I enjoyed The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. Ugh. Jessica annoyed me. Emily is seriously self-centred. Are teens really that dialled out of their parents' lives? Utterly predictable tropes. It was like a focus group got together and said you got to put this this and this in it, whether it fit the characters and plot or not. What was most annoying was that Waxman began the book with some cool stylistic features then dropped them for most of the book then picked them up again at the end. Editor fail in not noticing that and getting her to fix it.
