Friendliness: A Canadian or American Trait?

Bill Carroll on CFRB is taking calls on why more Canadians than ever are moving to the US, over 20,000 these days. The one attraction callers said over and over was that Americans are friendlier than Canadians. Canadians are nice, polite, but cold, not friendly.

Well, you know what, we can change that.

If you want people to be friendlier to you, start by being friendly yourself. It's a well-known axiom that when you change your behaviour the people around you change in response; if you change towards being friendly, their response (theoretically!) will change in that direction too. It only takes one person to start a ripple effect, and who knows we'll be able to boast of our friendliness too!
