As the freight train roared down my street and shuddered my house, I tuned to SRC (as CBC and Newsworld were showing kids shows and news) to see snow battering the cross-country skiers and staking claim to their legs and hats. Some wore clear visors instead of goggles to keep the snow from stinging their faces. Then SRC switched to the women's combined. Down came the Croatian in high winds, fell, disappeared into a snow cloud, got up, and skied on to the finish line. They then cancelled the race. Back SRC went to the poor cross-country ski racers. Boy, am I glad to be sheltered from our 80kph winds.
