In his October 12th Back Page column, Paul Wells wrote, "...Indian governments have been obsessive about higher education."
India has been obsessive about education from age 3 up, for decades. Indians revere learning. Canadians do not. Canadians obsess about eating into their precious tots' play time if they enroll them in school too early. Indians obsess about growing their tots' fine minds, knowing that learning for little ones is play.
"Unless Canada develops the same obsession, we can promote Canadian artists abroad all we want. It won't make a shred of difference."
