"God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." (Genesis 1:28)Leftists in particular admonish people of faith to be quiet over matters of the state because they feel that we have no business influencing political matters. But I disagree, especially when our NDP-predominant municipal council and our Liberal provincial government are both looking to despoil the land and negatively impact future generations, not to mention present-day people who will have to live next to a dump. They seem to be motivated by the laziest possible solution, not what's good for humans, fish, birds, animals, and the earth. People of faith who truly examine their internal life in light of the above blessing, know that the right decision is one that will replenish the earth, to bless the earth so that future generations won't have to live on a barren rock.
Sticking our trash in the ground, hoping it won't leach into our drinking water, to rot out of sight for centuries, without even siphoning off the methane for energy production, so that future garbage archeologists can have a field day, is in my mind not good stewardship of the earth.
