Blunt, intrepid, controversial columnist Rosie DiManno of The Toronto Star has, in the last few years, become a jack in the box. She disappears from the pages of The Star with nary a word from the editors about where she's gone -- or even acknowledging she's gone -- then suddenly pops up in the most unexpected places. Still, her latest reappearance has me nonplussed. Rosie. Science. These are two words I just don't associate. Yet there she is, on a US Coast Guard ship off the northern most tip of Alaska with 3 dozen scientists looking for new species in the Arctic ocean, reeling me in with her words. The photos are breathtaking.
