Script Frenzy is On!

It's four days into Script Frenzy, and it's a tennis match in my head between "Hey, I can write a screenplay!" and full-blown panic mode: "I don't know what I'm doing!" "Why did I sign up for this?!" "Whose crazy idea was this anyway!?!"

These are the thoughts that race through a newbie scriptwriter's head while staring at a blinking cursor waiting for my fingers to type. And then I remember the terrific people who've sponsored me so far in this 30-day writing marathon for The Office of Letters and Light. While their dollars go towards supporting the nonprofit that puts on Script Frenzy, their faith will keep me going, adapting my book Lifeliner: The Judy Taylor Story into a screenplay for a web series.

Script Frenzy is an international writing challenge in which we participants spend April (and portions of our sanity!) writing a 100-page movie, play, or graphic novel in just 30 days. The idea is to foster creativity in the young and the old, to build a more engaged and inspiring world. Script Frenzy and the Script Frenzy Young Writers Program cost over $150,000 to put on in 2010, and both free grassroots events wouldn't exist without donations from participants and from those who sponsor participants to write in aid of The Office of Letters and Light.

And so in addition to my writerly duties, I'm raising money to help Script Frenzy's parent nonprofit, The Office of Letters and Light, continue to put on free creative writing programs for kids and adults in classrooms, communities, and libraries around the world. Please check out my sponsor page to find a button to sponsor me, as well as an About tab at the top of the page to find out more about Script Frenzy, the Young Writer's Program, and Where Your Donations Go. And now I shall make puppy eyes and beg, please, please, please sponsor me. Please.

In the meantime, feel free to follow my scriptwriting progress on my Script Frenzy page, my Twitter page, or my website as I type madly away to the 100-page goal.

Sounds like a fun activity
Cath, It's definitely fun even when you don't have a clue what you're doing or think you can't write one more day! :D

I like how it fosters getting out of our normal way of doing something and create, something so lacking in many of our lives.
